MUSICSTAR Students Celebrate National Kazoo Day
Los Angeles, CA – January 28, 2015 –Creative Brain Learning and its music education division of MUSICSTAR issued a challenge to all students to celebrate National Kazoo Day January 28, 2015 by building their own Kazoos, learning about the physics of sound and having fun making music together!
In addition to students enrolled in MUSICSTAR enrichment programs throughout the Southland, entire afterschool programs operated by Creative Brain Learning are participating in this activity, including the following school sites: Washington Elementary School in Montebello, Joseph Gascon Elementary School in Los Angeles, Montebello Gardens Elementary School in Pico Rivera, and Dr. Sammy Lee Medical and Health Magnet School in downtown Los Angeles.
“A simple project like making your own kazoos is a fun way to reinforce specific science concepts, and to engage students in hands-on scientific experimentation, while participating in a creative and musical activity. This is what Creative Brain Learning is all about: we strive for unique ways of providing important learning that is multi-disciplinary and multi-sensory, and that provides opportunities for students to apply science or other academic concepts and make them more relevant, says Cristine Seeber, Vice President of the Creative Brain organization. Creative Brain® Learning provides afterschool education in partnership with LAUSD’S Beyond the Bell, and Montebello’s Extended Learning Opportunities. Students receive academic tutoring, as well as music classes and other academic and arts enrichment every afternoon until 6PM. The program is funded by California’s Afterschool Education and Safety grant.
